A movement of artists, writers and musicians who were excited by the new technologies being developed at the start of the 20th Century. They argued that the old / traditional artistic styles should be replaced by a new and exciting art that fit with the new age in which they were living.
They demanded new types of art, music and writing to be inspired by the sounds of industry, the speed of modern travel and the great developments of human technology.
One famous Futurist was Luigi Russolo.

A group of artists, writers and musicians who felt that traditional music was out of date. They wanted a new style of music for the new technological age in which they were living at the start of the 20th Century.
They demanded new types of art, music and writing to be inspired by the sounds of industry, the speed of modern travel and the great developments of human technology. One that reflected the rhythms of factories, the busy cities and the awesome power of newly invented machines.
