Paralanguage refers to all vocally-produced sound that is not a direct form of linguistic communication. Thus paralanguage includes utterance that may have strong signifying traits but no semantic meaning. This aspect of human sound production has been extensively employed as material in electroacoustic composition, text-sound poetry/poésie sonore.
