《吟》是为中国古老的传统乐器大曲笛与电子音乐而作的一部新组合作品,试图表达一种东方民族特有的心灵述说。笛子的“独白”质朴而空灵,起伏跌宕;作曲家所开发的、独到的多种笛膜的现代表现方式 -“竹膜”、“纸膜”、“无膜”,以及“吹指孔”、“吹笛头”等新的演奏法使古老的传统乐器获得了更多样化、更个性化的表现力和更广阔的表现空间,使音乐的发展层层迭进;尤其是“卡腔”的倾诉直入人心,把音乐推向高潮。作品中电子音乐部分的声音素材全部取自于中国传统吹奏乐器埙、笛、萧。该作品作为中国最早的电子音乐作品之一首创于1988年,2001年新版的电子音乐部分全部重新制作,是受到国内外音乐界好评的音乐会作品。2012新版的跨界演出增加了交互式舞蹈表演。
Combining a traditional Chinese wind instrument and electroacoustic technique, Le Chant Intérieur conveys a purely Oriental aesthetics. The sound materials of Le Chant Intérieur are all from ancient wind instruments of East Asian origin: Xun (egg-shaped clay instrument), Xiao (vertical flute) and Di (bamboo flute). The composer created various new sounds out of the old instrument, making it especially expressive. All kinds of new sound from the flute are thoroughly explored in this piece, as the composer invented a series of new techniques, include playing on the mouthpiece alone and blowing on finger hole. Right on the climax of the piece the flute is played with "chant-blowing from throat" technique that combines singing and blowing, bringing out the most striking and touching sound out of this traditional instrument.
