Solitaire
by Arne Nordheim
About the Work
This 作品 was written for the opening of the Henie Onstad 艺术 中心 near Oslo in 1968 with Charles Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du mal as the underlying 材料 There was especially one line in the poem Les Bijou that captured Nordheim’s attention
“The 处理 of diamonds makes 可能 the refraction of light in different angles and the 词 ‘solitaire’ points to the simplest 可能 mounting where a diamond stands alone ”
In this 作品 we 经验 a tonality that is ambiguous because of the 关系 between the two 谐/泛音 系列 that the 作曲家 employed
