As explored previously 声 can be either Gestures or 质地(纹理、织体)

Each 表演 a different 樂/乐 功能(函数) and they 补充 each other well through their differences

Using our 知识 and 技巧 in 变形 we can combine and edit 声 to 创作 both 质地(纹理、织体) and gestures

创作 Textures

Some 声 are naturally textural others can be transformed in order to 创作 质地(纹理、织体)

循环 声 can 变形 individual gestural 声 into larger textural 声 The 循环 声 blend together 创作 a larger 质地(纹理、织体)

时间缩放 stretches out 声 The more a 声波 is stretched the more textural it becomes

滤器 can be used to 变形 质地(纹理、织体) over 时间 As the 频带 of the 滤器 move so the 质地(纹理、织体) can be changed and 发展 合并 with 自动化 this can be a very 强大 工具 in constructing 动作 within your 作品

创作 Gestures
Just as with 质地(纹理、织体) some 声 are naturally gestural Others can be edited together to 创作 gestures

拼贴 can be used to cut out chunks of different 声 in 时间 which can then be 合并 together to make new gestures

滤器 can also be used to cut out or eliminate different chunks of 声波 不 within 时间 but within 频率 音高 e g 滤器 can be used to remove or select just the 高 or 低 元素 of a 声波 these could then be 合并 with other 声 to make new gestures

反转 can be used to discover new gestures within 现有 声 or to flip gestures around 制作 them run in the opposite 方向

自动化 can be used to dynamically construct gestures A 自动化 naturally creates a 姿态 when applied to almost any 效果(效应) e g 转换 时间缩放 滤器

作曲 Tip
Think about 能量 and the 自然 属性 of 对象 this will allow you to relate 声 together gesturally in a way that 声 / feels 自然

For 例如 think about the swing of a bat the thwack of it striking a ball and the 终 trajectory of the ball as it flies off and slowly loses 能量 These 行动 are all 相关 by a 转移 of 能量 and the 转移 of 能量 in this 例如 can be used as a 模型 for our own composite gestures

When we 变形 声 to 创作 质地(纹理、织体) using 循环 or time-stretch we are blurring the 原始/原创 包络 of the 声波 制作 it less individualistic and strong

when we 拼贴 and edit 声 together in other to 创作 gestures we are 合并 smaller 元素 or changing 声 in order to build stronger and more 动态 envelopes

Selecting 声波 Materials
If you’re struggling to choose 声 for you to start 作曲 with then try to pick 声 which you find really interesting or have a personal 重要(意义) for you

You might find it useful to 限制 yourself to using only a few 材料 at first and then gradually expand your palette as you need new 声

You might 不 end up using all of the 声 that you 创作 in a 终 作品 but it’s useful to have a wide collection to choose from Later on in the 过程 you’ll then be able to make new 声 on demand according to your needs for 例如 if a 声波 is ALMOST correct you’ll be able to hold the almost correct version while you go back in and experiment with subtle changes in the 参数 and 设置 You’ll then be able to compare the almost correct 声波 with the new 声波 that you’re 创作 until it 声 just right for your needs

Try to 用 声 according to their 樂/乐 属性 rather than their contextual associations i e 用 the 声 as 声 themselves 变形 your 声 to edit and move them away from their 原始/原创 源 associations
