What is Density?

密度 is all about how busy and compact something is Think of a shopping 中心 on a Saturday lunchtime full of shoppers and 人 going about their business In this 案例 there is a 高 密度 of 人 there are lots of shoppers about Then think about the same shopping 中心 at midnight All she shops are closed the doors are locked and there is only one security guard wandering about In this situation there is a very 低 密度 of 人 there are no shoppers at all and only one security guard

密度 and the Clarity of Individual Sounds
In dense soundscapes we find it very difficult to pick out individual 声 Sometimes the 声 may be so 混 that we begin to 听 a larger ‘cloud’ of 声波 itself made up of smaller 声 While in soundscapes with a 低 密度 we are easily able to identify individual 对象 Obviously there are many different measures of 密度 in-between these two extremes and 声 may become more or less dense over 时间

密度 and Clarity

Clouds of Sound

The 术语 ‘cloud’ can be a really useful metaphor for 描述 the 密度 of 声 we can 想像 clouds of all different 形状 质地（纹理、织体） colours from whispy light clouds to dark dense thunderclouds

Is there a big difference between the most dense and less dense moments or is this difference only small?

How do densities differ between the 环境 you have visited or within single 环境 at different times? How do they evolve in time?

Stepping back from the 细节 what influence does 密度 have on the 声音 环境 to which you are 聆 and to what extent does it influence or even 定义 what you hear?
