识别 and Grouping Sounds
If we are going to 作品 with 声 then we need to be able to tell them apart

We need to be able to 听 识别 the individual character 声 and then group a 系列 of these 声 底/基于 upon their similarities and differences

The most 基础 way to do this is to divide them into 类别（流派） 底/基于 on either their
common 属性 or their common 源

作曲 Tip
When 作曲 a 作品 it is useful to know whether you want the 听众 to 识别 the common 属性 or common 源 of the 声 that you 用

If you’re interested in exploring the common 属性 of different 声 then you need to try and hide or 降低 any strong 源 connections

If you’re interested in exploring the common 源 of 声 then you need to protect and 突出 the 源 connections

声 with Common Properties
声 that have common 属性 will 声波 类似 to one another in some way but might still be individual For 例如 they might be a group of 声 that are all pitched or a group of 声 that are all grainy 粒 声

We can 描述 these 声 as being a 特殊 种类 of 声波

The 基础 属性 of 声波 might 证明 useful starting points

音高 – the 品质 of a 声波 or 音 范围（排列） from 高 to 低
响度 – the 相对 volume of a 声波 范围（排列） from quiet to 响
时值 – the 长 of a 声波 from short to long
节奏 – a repeating 模式 within sounds

声 with a Common Source
声 that have a common 源 will all come from the same 对象 or 位置 They will probably 声波 very different to one another but they will relate to one another because they all come from the same place

We can 描述 these 声 as having a the same 源

Taking 多 声 from a single 位置 can be a really great way to 创作 a 作品 that is focussed around a 特定 inspiration but has variation We can take the 声 from this one 位置 or 对象 and then develop and 探索 them revealing the inner world of the 源

But Which is the Most Useful Way to Think About Sounds?
Using simple distinctions we can begin to group 声 in ways that are useful to us

And really the best solution to 用 is the one that 作品 best for us 个别 for a 特定 purpose

If we start to think about 声 as 对象 on their own separate from their 源 it is more useful to 区分 them 底/基于 upon their common 属性

Activity
Print and cut out the attached 声波 Property 录 Cards and 用 them to 音符 down the 属性 of 声

Print out as many sheets as you will need

When you have the 声 录制 on each of the 录 Cards experiment with the different ways in which you can arrange the 声 into groups

Think about their common 属性 and try to build 关系 between the different 声
How many different 种类 of 关系 can you draw?
